Walter Felix Thimm and Klaus Thimm

Klaus Thimm was part of his father’s company from the age of 12. He didn't just help out during the school holidays, he even accompanied Walter Felix Thimm on customer visits. During his studies in paper engineering he worked abroad for friendly corrugated cardboard companies. After successfully completing his studies he finally joined the family business at the age of 26 on 1 June 1964 and in 1969 became a personally liable partner alongside his father.

Together with his technical manager, he focused on optimising production in the coming years. In the early 1970s much of production at THIMM was still carried out manually, which was both very time-consuming and strenuous for the employees. Klaus THIMM therefore invested in numerous new machines that automated production processes at THIMM making them more efficient. He also introduced three-shift operation. As part of this, a new hall was also built in Northeim to create space for a more modern, larger corrugator.
