An alternative protective packaging solution made of corrugated cardboard was designed and manufactured for the Czech manufacturer of interior doors and frames, the Solodoor company. The protective corner made of durable five-layer corrugated cardboard perfectly protects the door during the entire logistics process, including storage. In addition, this sustainable corrugated packaging solution is printed with water-based inks, which allows Solodoor to communicate with its customers and promote brand visibility throughout the logistics and transport chain.
The corrugated cardboard protective corner fully replaces polystyrene corners, which are commonly used to protect doors during transport and are difficult to recycle. Corrugated cardboard is made from materials from renewable sources and is 100% recyclable. After being thrown into the container, the protective corner becomes part of the cyclical economy and is transformed into a raw material for further production.
In addition to sustainability, the corrugated protective corner also brings savings in the logistics and storage process - it is transported flat and therefore its quantity on a pallet is several times larger than in the case of the polystyrene variant. The use of a sustainable corrugated cardboard solution has reduced logistics and storage costs for the customer by up to 60%. Larger quantities transported on the pallet leave a smaller carbon footprint, which is another major benefit for sustainability.
