Last year, we used 54.35 million kWh of electricity throughout THIMM Group. As we show in our current Sustainability Report, electricity consumption increased by 4.2 percent in 2019 in comparison to 2016. However, this increase is proportionately considerably less than the increase in production. Our energy management in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 50001 standard and investments in state-of-the-art technologies and systems are contributing to energy savings in our plants.
We are aware that conventional energy sources are finite and put a strain on our climate. That is why, as a responsible company, we want to make our contribution and support the procurement and expansion of renewable energies. Therefore, depending on regional availability, we will be converting to 100% green electricity throughout THIMM Group in 2021. As a first step at our sites in Germany. France, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania will follow.
We describe how this will work and the benefits of switching to green electricity for our customers in our “Sustainable production” section.
