A universal container has been developed that can lock at least ten different types of steering gear in place.
It consists of one corrugated cardboard outer packaging which contains one corrugated cardboard insert, two solid board die-cuts and two big and small cable ties.
The outer packaging operates as the shipment unit, protects the product from external influences and fixes the insert in place. This is used to incorporate the product, position the cable ties and solid board die-cuts, stabilise the outer packaging and create clearance for the product. The solid board die-cuts under the insert create additional elevation in the punch out area in order to protect a sensitive plastic element of the steering gear and also to prevent any tearing of the big cable ties which are used to fix the product to the insert. The two small cable ties fix the frame of the steering gear.
Delivery is fully-assembled, but can also be delivered in flat-pack or kit format.
Using the universal container enables customers to reduce their packaging diversity and optimise their ordering, administration and storage efforts.
The standardised product positioning avoids sources of errors during packing and reduces the overall time and effort required for the packaging process.
The universal container can also be used for future, similar types of steering gear because no adaptations to the design will be required.
All the materials can be easily separated and disposed of.
